The Google World!

Today, Arti left for Tokyo for a week on business…while she is away, I thought I will put my mind to work and come up something extremely intelligent for my blog. But it looks like its a no go, because I am distracted with so many things around me. I have been planning this article for three hours now and these are the first words I came up with…EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT!

Anyways, to drive it forward I recently signed up with Amazon for their DVD rental service, highly recommended by one of Arti’s colleagues. It is one of the cheapest DVD rental services available in the UK. My first batch of DVDs have arrived and one of the movies in the list is Wallstreet. It is a decent movie, but one of the lines in the movie is an all time classic. It just hit me that this could be made the premise for my extremely intelligent article, simply because its an incredible line. It goes like this:

There is a THING in my pocket…

Sounds like an absurd title until you hear it completely. Not surprisingly, this is an ad campaign for Nokia’s new gadget killer, Nokia N95, one of my recent additions. To begin with, I am a gadget freak. I love all newly introduced technological marvels and go out of my way to gain possession of whatever is affordable. For the last seven years, ever since I started using a mobile phone back in India, I have been a proud owner of number of phones, including a Nokia 8850, 6820, 3110i, 9500, N70, Motorola A925, Samsung N620 and E720. But none of these phones have excited me as much as the N95.

I had been waiting for the phone since Christmas and was quite pleased to see it being launched in the UK during the Long Easter Weekend in April. I called my network immediately and managed to negotiate a decent deal, without a hefty deposit on a twelve month contract (For a N95, that is a real bargain). Around that time, I was in the process of changing jobs and I requested my network to deliver the phone to my new work place. The first day of my new job, I was more excited about receiving the phone than I was for my new job.

Nokia N95The Courier man walked straight to my table and delivered the package. I spent the rest of the day at work, giving regular furtive glances to my yet unpacked phone and at close, I hurried home with the parcel. Once I reached home, I unpacked it and out came the incredible THING…it sure is not one THING…its MANY!

Dissappeared!

My over ambitious intent to unleash my creativity backfired. Instead of writing content for my next blog, I am filling in for a previous blog. I decided to tweak a line of PHP coding to improve the aesthetic feel of my blog, without backing up my database…result – My two hours of wordy comfort…disappeared in two secs!

An inauspicious beginning…never mind, now that I have added blogging for SEO as a part of my job profile, I will have so much to write. Yes, I am blogging about the Importance of buying ethically sourced flowers for an All Green Blog, in exchange for a link to our website. A quality Link.

Finally!

I have a blog, although this is not my first effort. I have been exploring options of blogging for a while now. Ever since I came to the UK, people back in India always would ask how I felt to be in the UK, how different it is to study in the UK and also if I was feeling a bit lonely being on my own. I was tired of answering the same questions again and again, so I had thought of hosting a personal website to highlight and share my experiences with everyone back home. That was in January 2004, I had no idea about what a blog was. It never took off. But around April 2005, since I had acquired a Masters in Business Administration, I felt like an intellect. So I started a site called Business Lite to show people what I had learnt (Ha ha…sounds a bit silly now). I did post an article, no one read and the interest died as soon as it was born. I did fork out some money towards the hosting and domain service (It was only for a year though). After the domain expired, I decided to blog for the third time last year using Yahoo 360, and a fourth time on Blog Spot (Now I am not giving the URL’s for those blogs). Ever since I joined Arena Flowers as a Marketing Analyst, and seeing all my colleagues blog, my desire to blog has reignited, I hope this lasts…
