About

I must confess, when the thought of starting a blog confronted me, I had heaps of ideas on what I thought would make a good blog entry and I always believed that I would never run out of content for at least the first 30 blogs. But now, I wonder if I actually have anything to share or write at all. That’s being a long hopper, the negligent side of life. Let’s see, I have started one and hope to keep it going. I hope that I have some intellectual gibberish to fill in every day (OK am kidding, every week at least). So what is the idea behind long hop?

a thoughtless delivery
Long hop is a negligently bowled medium fast short delivery in the game of cricket, giving ample time for the batsman to play. Often used as a colloquial expression to ridicule.

Coming from a country where Cricket is a religion and being a passionate cricket fan, it is imminent that I think of a Cricket themed name for a blog. But it is not about just cricket, there are multiple facets to everything. Long Hop is a negligent reflection of the world I live in.

I work as a Marketing Analyst with a West London based online retailer, Arena Flowers. Aside from what my title suggests, my responsibilities are more into online marketing than marketing analysis. We have better people than me to take care of the analytics. I am in charge of organic Search Engine Marketing and I am very passionate about what I do.

In fact, a couple of months back when I took up this offer, I was not sure if I was doing the right thing by joining an Online Florist. Now considering the huge size of the flower industry in the UK (£2.2 Billion Annual) and that we account for less than a percent of market share, I have a challenging task ahead. If in a year’s time, we acquire a realistic Market Share, I will feel fulfilled.

Work aside, academically I have done a B Sc in Computer Science from Bangalore University, a M. Sc in International Marketing Management from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK and a MBA, from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. If I start filling everything about me on this page, then I will have nothing to blog about. Eventually, I will blog everything about me…read on!
